Beautiful city which maybe stayed a bit behind in current Romanian blooming. If you have interest for mid 19th architecture, you will have a nice trip. Eminescu parc is beautiful. People are nice and fervent there. A lot of foreign words, French, English, Italian can be seen on the boutiques. This city has a soul, but also something depressive. It's a nice dual character. The graveyards are as well of some interests. Bus lines are well working.
Take care with taxi. Some drivers there are the last remaining cheaters into Romania those days.

Didn't you know?
Didn't you know? There are plenty things to do in Galati, from taking long walks on the amazing Danube cliff to visiting the art museum or drink a cocktail on the Danube waves beach. You can even cross the river with a ferryboat and try the untouched natural Cocuta beach and take a swim in the Danube. Better yes, rent a small boat and go fishing. Or, if you feel lazy, drink a nice coffee at the central pubs and reserve your seat at the Fani Tardini Theater. Than, visit the Public Garden and maybe catch a movie in the outdoor cinema. And don't forget to ask for a Siret, a unique sweet biscuit which one can find only in Galati.

Not really a touristic city, but if you're in the area it's worth 1-2 days. The Danube promenade and the botanical garden are probaby the most attractive sights in the city. There are a few good (as in 'reliable') pubs and restaurants, but don't expect anything fancy.
There are a few big streets and a small central area worth visiting, otherwise I don't recommend exploring the city. Other sights can be found outside the city, e.g. across the Danube.

Galati as a city is improving year on year, i visit for business mainly and have been coming here for over 12 years.
Whilst the city is not a tourist destination in itself, the city is clean and the Danube runs through it, so there are some very nice places to visit, eat and spend time.
It has a very good shopping Mall and generally there are a great many bars and restaurants to choose from.
Galati is a great jumping off point to visit the Danube Delta, which is an amazing place for wildlife and a UNESCO world heritage site so preserved area, expect to see many birds including Pelicans, you may also see if you are lucky, otters, or even Golden Jackals.

Galati is a nice , clean and peaceful town and is enjoying the Danube.
Although is not a huge city is able to offer most of the attractions like theatre, public gardens, restaurants and so on.
Moving and getting around the city is easy and inexpensive.
Last but not least the locals are friendly and willing to help.
I really like it and warmly recommended.

As a new visitor I found Galati to be an interesting location to visit. On the Danube and building renovation is seeing new designs blend well with old world charm. The Science Museum was very unexpected. Check the weather before going. I didn’t mind it, for the most part, but was surprised by the cold on one day.
The people were friendly and helpful. I found trying local food very enjoyable.
I found the EURO was not commonly accepted. Make sure you travel with local currency.
I am impressed by this apartment, as it is better then on the pictures.
Very clean, cozy, warm and wonderful apartment.
It was my best night, as I slept as a baby. The bed is so soft, that I did not want to get up. Only morning coffee made me to open the eyes. By the way, yes, you can make a fresh coffee, as there is a coffee machine.
It 12 from 10.
As the owner is so sweet and helps with all questions.
Next time I visit Galati once again, I know the best place in the city.
This apartment was extremely clean and I have very high standards. Everything was decorated in good taste and very comfortable. We liked the fact that it had AC since it can get pretty hot during summer in Galati. It is located in a central but quiet area of the city, 5 min walking distance from Danube river. It also has a supermarket 5 min away from it.
Absolutely perfect! One of the best hotels in the city. The rooms are amazing, beautifully decorated, spacious, intimate and very comfortable. We also had an amazing view, absolutely breathtaking! Great staff and perfect service. Thank you! We will definitely come again soon! Ah, and they have room service :)
First time in Galati. The location of the hotel is really good! The hotel is new and the design of it is wonderful. Room are spacious as well. The staff was really professional and thoughtful, even had a hand written note and fruit basket in the room. Will definitely come back to it if ever back in Galati.
The hotel itself is the most amazing in town. Various facilities, rich breakfast, nice and comfy rooms. The pictures reflect reality. The staff went out of their way to make my husban's B-day dinner party perfect. Many thanks for that.
The apartment was perfect choice to stay in galati .close to the river and very good restaurants around .. close to the center . A very quiet area . The owner was available when i needed to ask anything . The ap was very clean also

Nice hotel in the Downtown. I spent a very short night there , but I am fully happy with the Hotel , room and personnel. The breakfast was great. I am satisfied with the varieties of menu.

Quite new and clean hotel, not far from city center, 3 minutes walk from TV tower and 10 minutes walk from Danube bank with a long walking street. Close to a few big grocery shops.
Extremely nice and friendly staff that are ready to assist. Good location, 15 minutes walk from the middle of town. There’s a pizza restaurant connected to the hotel.
