The breakfast was good but we had stayed there before a year ago and the food was a bit better then, Some improvements to the food would be a good idea but still was good.

A very chilled place - just very serene place to go.
A very chilled place - just very serene place to go. It can be a little expensive for the type of food offered in several restaurants - price doesn't really match portion of menu.
The people are friendly, there's a few activities to do if you're adventurous.
It's a great place to stop-over for a couple of nights and then continue with your journey.
The Waterfront is very lovely. I suggest you there.
The Mall is also great for shopping - don't get lost though because there's about 4 mall/square areas.

If you are planning a trip along the garden route then Knysna is a must visit spot. The views across the lagoon and the Knysna Heads are amazing and so many options for accommodation from camping by the lagoon to 5* hotels.
It is also a good base to explore the Eastern end on the garden route right up to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).
There is also a number of fantastic mountain passes to drive up to the Karoo, but make sure you have a good vehicle and a good head for heights. Knysna is fantastic and well worth a visit.

As a place to stay, Knysna is rather small, and moreover less secure after dark than other places. Knysna and its islands/view points can e.g. easily be visited from Plettenberg where there is much more choice in terms of restaurants. 1 day is more than enough for Knysna.

The views are magnificent.
The views are magnificent. The surrounding areas are also very worthy of visits. Plettenburg Bay, Tsitsikamma, Sedgefield and Wilderness are excellent. Something great to do every day!
Knysna itself is a little run down and touristy, after all it straddles a motorway (N2), but there are places that are tucked away which are charming.....one goes there however for the views!
The Private Estate, Lagoon Apartment is a lovely place in the Countryside to dicover Knysna, Lagoon islands, the Heads and the pearls on the near Indian Ocean coast Brenton-On-Sea and Buffels Bay. The apartment is light in a beautiful in white style with pritty details, and has a small patio with a view into the Garden. Ohne must emphasize the pleasant and cordial hospitality , and, last not least, a perfect and sensible organization.
This is a handsome property in Knysna with exceptionally friendly hosts in Ron & Louise. The view of the lagoon and heads from the balcony is spectacular. The rooms are comfortable & well-appointed and the breakfast was great. We recommend this Guesthouse to anyone looking for a stopover in Knysna, whether a 1-nighter or a longer stay. The view alone will bring you back for more!
Beautiful spacious rooms, lovely furnishing.superb bathroom and patio overlooking Knysna lagoon. Very convenient for exploring the area and the view was stunning. Hosts Marion and Gavin went over and above waiting for our missing luggage and chasing up our change of hire car. We cannot thank them enough. Breakfasts at Waterfront Lodge were excellent.

The St. James is a unique and extraordinary hotel in a nice location. The really good breakfast was freshly prepared and served. No dinner option at the moment. But plenty of restaurants around. Very spacious and nicely equipped rooms. Recommend to drive around the lagoon and visit Brenton-on-Sea!
Lagoona Inn is very central within Knysna, close to the 2 Heads and also close to the latest restaurants. The beds were very comfortable and had a great view over a pool and then lagoon. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was awesome and the overall stay was great value for money!
Breakfast was great. The hotel was quiet, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom had everything I needed, coffee and tea facilities, a great location near Knysna waterfront, and other restaurants. The art and colourful decor were very much appreciated and enjoyed.
Good location, despite a very busy main street. It is at close walking distance of Knysna Waterfront with lots of restaurants and bars. Parking for car is big and secured. Hotel and rooms are clean. Breakfast was ok. It is more a hotel catered for groups.
The staff are extremely friendly and they will go the extra mile to make your stay more comfortable. The breakfast is good. The hotel is well kept and clean. The location is fantastic we had the west view room where you can see the Knysna heads perfectly.
